The Deps Cover Scat is a high-density soft plastic developed in Japan specifically for fishing weightless around heavy cover. Despite its compact profile, the Cover Scat is made from an ultra-high-specific-gravity material containing 40% salt, giving it substantial casting weight without adding a sinker.
Its bulky, crustacean-inspired body is heavier toward the rear, while stabilizer fins along each side help keep the bait level and produce its signature horizontal fall. The streamlined, appendage-free profile allows it to slip through vegetation, bushes, dock pilings, overhanging trees, and other snag-prone cover. A deep belly groove and hook-guard design help maintain a weedless presentation while improving hook-up efficiency.
Beyond simply letting it fall, anglers can twitch the Cover Scat to create an underwater walk-the-dog action, giving it a darting, scurrying presentation similar to a fleeing crawfish.
