The Shimano Ultegra FD Spinning Reel brings many of Shimano’s premium reel technologies into a versatile, performance-driven platform built for serious freshwater and inshore anglers. The latest Ultegra FD combines smooth winding, impressive durability and refined line management for anglers who demand dependable performance without stepping into Shimano’s highest-priced spinning reels.

At the heart of the Ultegra FD is Shimano’s HAGANE Gear paired with InfinityXross, which increases gear-tooth contact to better distribute load and improve long-term durability. InfinityDrive reduces friction between the spool shaft and pinion gear, providing lighter, smoother winding—especially when retrieving under load.

Shimano also equips the Ultegra FD with an Anti-Twist Fin, a flexible polymer component designed to improve line management and reduce slack-line problems and wind knots. X-Protect helps prevent water intrusion into critical areas of the reel, making the Ultegra FD suitable for both freshwater and saltwater applications.

Available in sizes from 1000 through C5000, the Ultegra FD can cover everything from finesse bass and panfish applications to larger freshwater species and inshore fishing.
