New for ICAST 2026, the Shimano AERO 8 Braided Line is a premium Japanese-made 8-carrier PE braid developed specifically for shallow-water and finesse bass fishing techniques. Constructed from ultra-high-strength IZANAS® polyethylene fibers, AERO 8 combines a soft, supple feel with low stretch for excellent sensitivity and quick transmission of bites and bottom contact back to the angler.
Its dense 8-carrier construction creates a smooth, round profile that minimizes surface resistance and friction through the rod guides. The result is smooth casting, excellent line control, and natural lure movement—especially important when fishing light baits on spinning tackle. Shimano specifically designed AERO 8 for techniques such as shallow mid-strolling, weightless soft plastics, light swimbaits, and drop shots.
AERO 8 uses the Japanese PE sizing system, allowing anglers to select line based on diameter and strength for better control over casting distance, lure action, and spool capacity. Shimano lists both minimum and average pound-class strength on the packaging. It is available from PE #0.5 through PE #2 and comes on a 164-yard (150-meter) spool in either Moss Green or Orange.
