Gene Larew - Biffle Hard Head Swing Head

The Gene Larew Biffle HardHead is the original-style swinging football jig head developed with professional angler Tommy Biffle. It combines a powder-coated football-shaped head with a free-swinging worm hook, allowing the soft-plastic trailer to pivot and move independently behind the weight.

Designed for the technique commonly known as “Bottom Buggin’,” the HardHead can be cast out and steadily retrieved while maintaining contact with the bottom. As the football head bumps across rock, gravel, ledges, and other structure, the articulated hook gives the soft plastic an erratic side-to-side action. Tommy Biffle famously paired the HardHead with the Gene Larew Biffle Bug, helping popularize this crankbait-like method of fishing soft plastics.

The free-swinging design also allows a soft plastic to be rigged weedless, helping the presentation work through many types of cover and structure. Although designed around the Biffle Bug, the HardHead can also be paired with craws, creature baits, worms, and other soft plastics.
