Burtek - Jerkin Urchin

The Burtek Tackle Jerkin Urchin is a unique urchin-style bass bait designed to deliver exceptional drawing power with an erratic, high-action presentation. Built from a non-deforming thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), the Jerkin Urchin is extremely durable and designed to withstand fish after fish while maintaining its original shape.

The bait's round center body is surrounded by flexible appendages that flutter, pulse and move unpredictably as the lure falls, pauses or is jerked through the water. This unusual action makes it especially effective for drawing bass away from cover and targeting fish that have become conditioned to more traditional soft-plastic presentations.

The Jerkin Urchin 25mm features a 25mm inner ball with an approximately 5-inch overall width, giving it a substantial profile and excellent drawing power for quality bass. Burtek recommends rigging options including a 5/0 flipping hook, No. 1 to 1/0 treble or quad hook, and Jika rig.

The Jerkin Urchin can be worked with a jerk-jerk-pause retrieve, allowing the appendages to flutter as the bait falls between movements. Urchin-style baits are also being used for bottom-contact and suspended-fish presentations, making them particularly versatile around brush, docks, grass, drop-offs and open water.
