Company Information
In 2005 the concept for comfortable and flexible reel handle grips was an innovative idea of Mark Shull, an avid Bass Angler and rubber industry veteran. A partnership was developed with Dan Broadbent and Angelo Savakis, also rubber industry veterans and amateur anglers, to develop and market Reel Grips.
That same year Reel Grip introduced the original grip at the Bassmaster Classic in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, by providing sample grips to all participants and many of the spectators in attendance. During the following ten years Reel Grip has experienced steady growth by continuously developing new products and making improvements to existing products. The original Reel Grip was designed for use on bait casting reel handles. Several months later the Rod Grip was developed to provide better grip and more comfort while handling your fishing rods during a long day of angling competition. An additional design was introduced at the 2014 I-Cast Exhibition in Orlando, Florida, for spinning reels: Reel Grip-X. Their most recent introduction, at the 2015 I-Cast Exhibit, is the Reel Grip Fly for use on Fly Fishing reel handles.
All Reel Grip products are manufactured in the U.S. A. at a small rubber molding firm in Wadsworth, Ohio: Raydar, Inc. With a workforce of only nine employees, a truly American product line is being produced by a group of everyday Americans. Their material suppliers are all located in the U. S. as well, primarily in the Northeast Ohio region. Reel Grip continues to investigate new and innovative product designs for anglers of all types. They encourage all anglers to contact them with any concepts or ideas for prospective development of additional product lines.
