Ken Warren Ken Warren grew up near Kentucky and Barkley lakes but has moved around to many regions of the country. This made bass fishing tough for him. Ken says, “It seemed that as soon as I became familiar with a body of water or a style that was particular to a region it was time to move on.” While this did make fishing tournaments tough, it forced him to become a well-rounded angler who can adapt to different environments.
Ken also holds a Master’s degree in electrical engineering and says that degree helps his fishing, believe it or not. He believes being trained as an engineer forces you to always look at the physical world and break down the components that make up the whole. For instance he looks at a day spent on the water as an engineer. He records all of the data; wind, water and air temps, weather patterns, and time and place of each fish caught. He believes this allows him to draw a very good conclusion as to why he caught, or did not catch, fish. This is all invaluable when you look back at past trips taken at the same time of the year or the same conditions. These records will allow for better performance in any tournament or just a fun day on the water. Ken says, “I do believe looking at fishing as an engineer allows me an edge because I pick up on details others miss. I also believe, however, keeping records is the most important thing any tournament angler can do regardless of their professional training.” Ken is a director of a district of the American Bass Anglers Tournament Trail in eastern Iowa. The district holds draw tournaments on the Mississippi River along the northern boarder of Iowa. You can visit Ken or get more info on his tournaments at the district website his website or email him at ad4os@hotmail.com Ken is sponsored by Strictly Bass Lures & Gander Mountain
