Went on a fishing trip with my son, my friend, my stepdad and myself. Going for sturgeon and stripper. We all set up our poles with a mind set of catching a sturgeon, with the exception of my sons pole. I set him up with a stripper setup. 8 foot medium action pole with 17 Berkley Trilene XT line. Three poles were baited up with Ghost Shrimp. My sons pole with a Pile worm. 5 minutes later my son was getting a bite. Him pulling back and setting the hook, FISH ON. Looked over at him and seen the pole bending almost back in the water, I grabed the pole from him and adjusted the drag. First thinking it was snagged, I didnt think there wasnt anything on the other end. My friend took the pole from me and said its a Sturgeon hes sitting on the bottom. Pulling the anchor up the chase was on. Approx. half mile down river and one hour later, it was landed in the boat. The Sturgeon measured 64 inches long and weighing 57pounds. WoW what a catch. Couldnt of done it with out Berkley Trilene. all done with 17pound test line.
