First of all, allow me to tell you a little bit about my experience. In the early 1980's I was employed at the first fly fishing store to open in Colorado, Anglers All in Littleton. I learned fly tying from this old school fly fishing store and still do business with the great people at this shop.

Starting in 1989 and continuing until 1995, I was employed as a fishing guide in the Gunnison Gorge. In 1990 I started Matt Owens Fly Company as a commercial fly tying operation while continuing to guide.

As it is the natural course for the adventurous to leave big business and strike out on their own, this is exactly what I did in 1986. In 1987 I merged a BLM permit with the fly tying operation and added the guided fishing service on the lower corridor of the Gunnison Gorge.

I have had the pleasure of logging over 10,000 miles of floating and instructing fly fishing on the Gunnison River and Rio Grande River. From my early years at Anglers All and 15 years of guiding fly fishing trips, I have learned a few things about trout and customer service.
