Welcome to Golden Eagle Charters. We have been in business since 1988. During that time we have had the privilege of seeing thousands of people fulfill their dreams.
When I first came to Alaska the first fish I saw was a beautiful bright copper colored 84-pound King Salmon. Also within 2 days of seeing this magnificent fish, a new world record came from the Kenai River. A 97 pound 4 ounce giant of a fish.
When I set up my business I had one thing in mind, that was to be the best . The only way for me to accomplish this was to always put the customer first. This has never changed.
Seeing the size of the fish we are going after I always remind myself, when you get a big fish on the line you only get one chance to put it in the boat, make it count.
The most important thing I saw in catching a big fish was the equipment. If it were a 65 pound King Salmon or a 200 pound Halibut you must have the right equipment to do the job. For Halibut we use custom built Seeker Rods with Penn International 2-speeed reels spoled with #130 Izorline kevlar line.
For Salmon we use 81/2 foot IM7 Berkley rods with Garcia 6500c reels spooled with #30 Berkley Trilene XL.
The Boats
Our Saltwater boat is a custom-built 28 foot long 10 foot wide cruiser with twin 225 H.P. Mercury motors. This boat was designed with the fisherman in mind. It has a large fishing deck and a large enclosed cabin. The boat also has bathroom facilities on board. The navigation system consists of one of the newest and best G.P.S. systems on the market.
Our riverboats are custom built 20 foot drift and powerboats built to fish 4 adults in comfort.
All of our boats are equipped with coast guard approved equipment to insure the safety of everyone on board.
We offer King Salmon fishing on the Kenai as well as the Kasilof River. Each river has its own personality, with the Kenai being the river of choice when it comes to trophy Kings. But when it comes to sheer numbers of early run kings, you can't beat the Kasilof.
We also offer Silver Salmon fishing trips on the Kenai and Kasilof rivers as well as out of Seward. The Kenai and Kasilof rivers start producing Silvers around the end of July with the run getting underway during the first week of August.
The Seward Silver fishery usually gets underway the first week of August and lasts into September.
If you want to fly out to a remote lake or river we can arrange this for you. On these trips you can be put face to face with the Alaskan Grizzly. These fly outs give you a chance to see some of Alaska’s awesome beauty up close. The fishing that is available on these trips include, Pike, Lake Trout, Salmon and Grayling just to name a few. You don’t want to forget your camera on these trips.
Our lodging consists of 5 cabins and a house. There are 4 cabins and the house located on the banks of the Kenai River. We also have a cabin in Ninilchik within 1.5 miles of where we launch the boats. All of our cabins are fully equiped with everything you need to set up house during your stay. All you need to supply is food.
